An additional suspected case was reported today with a student on the Keuka Park campus; the student is home.
The Keuka Park campus and all ASAP sites remain open.
The College has received a report of three suspected cases of the H1N1 virus in one of our Accelerated Studies for Adults Program (ASAP) cohorts at the Corning Business Development Center. One of the students in question has a close family member who has a confirmed case of the virus, and the instructor for this cohort may have been exposed during a recent class session; however, he is not exhibiting any symptoms at this time.
Students in the affected cohort have been notified by the College of their possible exposure to the virus.
ASAP students who are experiencing flu-like symptoms should contact their physician immediately and not attend class. Students on the Keuka Park campus should contact Health Services (315-279-5368) or the College Health Hotline (315-279-5999).
Presently, the Keuka Park campus and all ASAP cohorts and sites remain open. Status updates are posted to this Web site.
There are two students in isolation with suspected H1N1.
The campus and all ASAP sites remain open.
Dear Members of the Keuka College Community:
A limited shipment of 200 H1N1 influenza vaccine arrived at Keuka College Health Services late Friday, Oct. 16.
Following CDC guidelines for situations in which vaccine supplies are limited, these initial doses will be targeted to students at greatest risk of complications from the flu, including those:
The second target group will be those who care for infants under six months old. Eligible students should call Health Services this week to schedule an appointment (315-279-5368). There is no fee for vaccination by Health Services.
Students with no underlying health conditions, faculty, and staff members, are not eligible to be vaccinated with this first limited supply.
As vaccine becomes widely available in the coming weeks, all members of our community who wish to be vaccinated should have access to the vaccine at Keuka College or from area health care providers.
We understand the need for clear and timely information about the availability of seasonal and H1N1 vaccine, including schedules for clinics and appointments.
Whenever we have new information, we will provide it on the Keuka College H1N1 flu page at http://blogs.keuka.edu/h1n1/ and via Announce.
We at Keuka College are strong proponents of influenza vaccination as the best way to reduce your own risk of illness and protect those who are not able to get vaccinated.
We are committed to delivering H1N1 vaccine to the campus as expeditiously as possible. We ask for your patience as we juggle the unpredictability of supply related to the vaccine, competing demands of preventing illness and treating those who are sick, priorities related to identified risks, and concerns of individual members of our community.

Presently, Health Services is reporting one suspected case involving a commuter graduate student. The student is resting at home.
The Keuka Park campus and all ASAP sites remain open.
Nearly 75 percent of college campuses nationwide have reported cases of the H1N1 flu.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) urge all individuals—especially those who live, work, and study on college campuses— to get vaccinated for the seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu when it become available.
The Yates County Public Health Department will conduct a seasonal flu vaccination clinic Tuesday, Sept. 29 in the Dalhstrom Student Center, room 26. The clinic will open at noon and everyone will be accommodated.
The seasonal flu (not H1N1) vaccine is $30, but bring your health insurance cards. The following insurance plans can be billed: Excellus, MVP (Preferred Care), and Medicare.
No other vaccinations will be offered at the clinic.
Cash or check only (no $50 or $100 bills).
Contact Holly Bunn at hbunn@keuka.edu to sign up.
Vaccinations are the most important step one can take toward preventing the seasonal flu and H1N1 flu. The College community will be notified when the H1N1 vaccination is available.
