Why Should I Keep an Eye on the Storm?

Written on September 18th, 2008 at 11:31 am by Beth Ann Whitmore.

You may ponder to yourself when reading this, “why should I bother keeping my eye on a storm?” Shouldn’t I be seeking shelter?

Under normal circumstance that would be correct, but the mascot at Keuka College is actually Stormie, the storm, hence this catchy little blog name. So fret not!

We’re here to help you with your college selection, along with some inside scoop one what college life is really like, since we are cool college kids (except Lindsay, the super rad admissions counselor). We’ll help with the admissions process and we might even tell you a little bit about Keuka, seeing as we live here and all.

Happy readings!

Start of Junior Year…

Written on September 17th, 2008 at 03:21 pm by Brandon Pierson.

I am attending Keuka College for childhood and special education with a concentration in history. I have done two Field Periods; one in a third grade and the other in a fifth grade. My future Field Period will be a group trip to Italy. I am President of BAKU (Bearers of Ancient Kultures United) – the multicultural club on campus. While being the President of BAKU, I also work in the Office of Multicultural Affairs. Within the club and office, we focus on the topic of diversity on campus.

Now that I am into my third year here at Keuka, my education classes are underway and my many tasks are just beginning. The days are counting down until my flight to Italy.

A Bit of Brit

Written on September 17th, 2008 at 03:12 pm by Brittany Bridenbaker.

Hello All,

Welcome to my page. As you probably know, my name is Brittany Bridenbaker and I am a junior here. I’m a criminology and criminal justice major with a minor in political science and history. I have completed Field Periods at the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office and the Onondaga County Probation Department. Both of which I have learned so much from. I am a member of the KC Step Team which really helps me get away from school work. I am also a member of BAKU (Barriers of Ancient Kultures United) the multicultural club on campus that helps the Keuka community “get kultured”.

Stay tuned for future blogs. Thanks for reading.

Pleth of Beth . . . Ann

Written on September 17th, 2008 at 03:09 pm by Beth Ann Whitmore.

I’m from a small town about three hours away from here, called Unadilla, and graduated in a class of 69 students. I learned very quickly that Unadilla isn’t a word easily accepted anywhere outside of a 20 mile radius of the small town, and I frequently have to repeat how to pronounce it. As for the name of my high school — well I went to Unatego — and that is a mouthful as well. Keuka was my first choice, and I’

m not sure I could be this happy if I chose anywhere else.

I happen to be an awesome sophomore English major with a concentration in communications and a familiar goal of wanting to go places. My main goal is to be a copy editor when I grow up, which I’ve been working on while I’m here, by proofreading over other student’

s papers when they ask me to, and being the editor of the Campus Life section as well as a blogger for Eye On the Storm.

I’

m extremely random, like my hatred for squirrels and my love for singing and dancing in the passenger seat while going through pretty much any town. I cried when RENT was taken off Broadway recently, along with when I got into Keuka. I frequently use lyrics to define my moods in away messages, and I will most likely be friends with you on Facebook before I am friends with you in life.
